Back pain can be debilitating, physically and mentally.
I suffered with it. it was not fun and I thought my life was over. But actually this is how I ended up discovering acupuncture.
Recent news suggest that David Cameron is currently suffering from a protruding disk (aka: slip disk, hernia, low back pain).
There is concerns for Mr Cameron’s health, but also his fitness to work and discussions regarding treatment plans.
I have been asked to comment. Personally, it was only after starting acupuncture treatment that I felt I could possibly get better and resume life. I have had patients with severe impairment, some who could not walk or even sit, start moving about, and even ski, after one single session.
A recent German study on effectiveness and acceptance of Acupuncture in patients with chronic low back pain concluded that Acupuncture was highly accepted and had positive effects in patients with chronic low back pain. These results show that acupuncture can be an effective, well-tolerated therapy with no major adverse events.
NICE (National  Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guiding NHS (National Health Service) and any service promoting health and wellbeing, recommends offering a course of acupuncture needling comprising up to a maximum of 10 sessions over a period of 12 weeks.
